The Education Institute is an initiative geared to make biblical study, sound doctrine, and spiritual formation accessible to Christians in the midst of an ever-increasing demand on their time.

The Education Institute consists of three 10-week courses. For the 2011-12 Cycle, the three courses offered are: “Introduction to Acts,” “Gifts of the Spirit,” and “Trinity 101.”  These courses will be offered multiple times throughout the year; as a consequence, a participant who commits to attend the institute on a particular day and time will have the opportunity to successfully attend all three courses.

Course Descriptions

Introduction to ActsThis class provides an overview and survey of the the New Testament book of Acts.

Gifts of the Spirit- This class explores a variety of theological and practical aspects of Spiritual Gifts, including avenues of gift discovery and how the Holy Spirt intends to impact individuals, the church, and the community through the gifts He gives.

Trinity 101- This class builds upon Christology 101 and Pneumatology 101, previosuly offered.  It explores the ways in which the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit relate to one another, how they relate to us, and what difference this makes in our lives.

Participation and Enrollment Options

Anderson University Continuing Education Units

The Education Institute offers courses derived from the Center for Christian Leadership. The Center for Christian Leadership is a non-academic degree, Continuing Education Unit (CEU) granting program of the Anderson University School of Theology. “The primary purpose of the CEU,” as noted by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), “is to provide a permanent record of the educational accomplishments of an individual who has completed one or more significant non-credit educational experiences.” While CEUs can be awarded for all Education Institute courses, neither college nor seminary academic credit can be granted for work done through the institute.

The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is defined as “ten contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction.” Therefore, those who enroll in this option will receive the official course book(s), study guide, or manual and be required to submit progress reports concerning their study and learning. There is a one-time enrollment fee of $50, payable to Anderson University School of Theology. Participants who desire CEUs are also required to pay $50 per course to the university for materials and processing fees.

Education Institute Certificate of Completion

The Metropolitan Church of God will grant a certificate of completion to participants who successfully complete the three 10-week courses.  Participants who miss no more then two of the 10-week course sessions will be considered to have successfully completed a course.  Participants will be allowed to make up missed course sessions if they attend the missed class during another offering.  Those who participate through this option will not receive the official book, study guide, or manual; however, they will benefit from the lessons and information contained in these materials. There is no cost for this option.

Random Attendance

Members and non-members of the Metropolitan Church of God are welcome to attend any Education Institute course session at any time. There is no cost for this option.
